Fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing:
Understanding the Mechanisms of Creating Lasting Change

Live Real-Time Interactive Webinar

Change is hard. Helping someone else to change is even harder...

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based approach that is designed to empower clients to find internal motivation to make positive behavioral changes. Motivational Interviewing can be combined with other Therapy models and can be used to treat a wide variety of presenting issues.

This flexible two-day training program will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively integrate motivational interviewing techniques into your therapy practice. Whether you are new to motivational interviewing or looking to refine your existing skills, this course has something for everyone. The first day of the training will provide a foundational understanding of motivational interviewing, including the theory and principles behind it. Day 2 will take a deeper dive into the application of these techniques in therapy practice, including advanced skills and strategies as well as practice opportunities.

Attendees have the option to attend either day separately or both days together for a comprehensive learning experience. This course will enhance your skills as a mental health professional and empower you to help your clients achieve meaningful and sustainable change.

Day 1 Overview

Day 1 (Fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing: Understanding the Mechanisms of Creating Lasting Change) of the training targets clinicians seeking an introductory to intermediate level of training in Motivational Interviewing. The workshop introduces learners to the four processes of Motivational Interviewing with an emphasis on differentiating interventions within the identified process. Client ambivalence is examined through a humanistic lens, while considering the application of Motivational Interviewing to a wide variety behavioral and lifestyle changes a client might be considering. Foundational, client-centered concepts are examined in the Spirit of Motivational Interviews as well as the directional elements associated with change and sustain talk.

Two-Day discount is available when registering for both training sessions together. Learn more about Day 2 of this training HERE.
